We're All Part of the Equation: Fostering a Climate of Safety & Respect at Home, School & in the Community Wednesday, April 21, 12:45-2:30 p.m. New Trier High School, Northfield Campus, Building C, Room 234. All students deserve to grow up feeling that they are physically and emotionally safe. Yet how many of us have, or know of, a middle or high school student who has been teased, excluded socially, harassed for being different, been the subject of malicious gossip or rumors, threatened verbally, threatened physically, stolen from, had property destroyed, or hazed? All of these behaviors and many others like them have come to be represented by a single word: bullying. Dr. John Dominguez, Ph.D., will educate parents about the prevalence and impact of bullying on students and suggest school, family and community-based approaches to reduce bullying in our community. Dr. Dominguez is the NSSED/ North Shore Academy Intervention Specialist. Following the presentation, a member of the New Trier staff will talk about the “Names Can Really Hurt Us” program being presented to freshmen in the month of April. This program is presented in conjunction with the New Trier School Climate Committee. |
